    C-2 Shock Absorber Questions

I know this is probably a dumb question but how often should shock absorbers be changed? I remember in the old days you would bounce your car and if it kept going, you needed new shocks !
My '66 seems to drive OK, but I checked my records and I guess I'm kind of ashamed to say that next month my AC Delco's have been on for 13 years ( 17,000 miles ). Of course they were just the regular shocks bought at the local GM dealer.
I'm thinking maybe that the new AC Delco Gas Shocks will improve the ride and handling?
Also will the new AC Delco Gas Shocks increase the ride height?
    Thank You

I put KYB's in my 67, painted them grey and added the inspection stickers with small deducts in judging.

      Brian,
Are the KYB's a gas shock?
Also are there any particuliar part / model numbers for the C-2's?
      Best place to buy?
      Thank You

        Yes they are gas.
I used the white ones in the attached link. Shocks will not change the riode hight.

Here's another one to consider: edelbrock classic shocks

Sounds as though you guys are telling me , its time to change shocks ? 13 years is too long?
Brian, I did not see a link as you mentioned.
            Thanks for the suggestions.
I've been in the archives researching but most all the posts are back 9 - 10 years.
The only current post refers to the AC Delco Gas shocks.
            Thank You

I still have the originals on the front of mine (65) and some delco replacements on the rear and drive my car about 1000 miles a year the originals are fine.

At 1K per year with no apparent complaints about bounce or whatever, I believe I'd go out and replace ALL of the shock rubber and call it a day.
