c2 windshield wiper motor bench testing

Have a 12 volt battery, alligator clips and a 67 windshield wiper motor out of car. Could someone tell me what to connect where to test the motor.

    Charles,
I am signing off now and have rebuilt 2 mid year wiper motors and found that the test procedure in the book was not as helpfull as I thought it should be.

They seem to need cleaning and lube to make them work again.

    Also kinda tricky inside.

If I got the link correct below, it is a YouTube from Wilcox Corvette testing a C2 wiper motor. If the link doesn't work, just google Wilcox Corvette wiper motor test. They have a bunch on YouTube for different years, but this link should be for the C2.

I used it to help in testing my 66 wiper moter.

Connect negative lead from battery to fan housing; make sure the alligator clip is grounded through any paint, grease, etc., on the fan shroud. Now connect the lead from the battery to the terminal on the side of the fan. Works all the time for me. Make sure you hold the fan when you connect the positive lead as the torque / inertia from the motor (if it is in good condition) can cause the unit to spin out of control.

Here's a little diagram I pirated from someone.

The center lug is hot all the time. The outer lugs control the 2 speeds. Too lazy to check right now, but if you ground ONE of them, it works on one speed, if you ground them both, it works on the other.

Long story short, the motor in my 63 went bad months ago. I tested it in the car, then tested it after I had it out on the bench.

Sent it to Joe Ray in North Little Rock, Arkansas. JR fixed me up.
