    63 Clutch swivel

My blue 63 is missing a washer on the clutch swivel, it goes under the retaining clip (shown as item 15f, part number 103330, on AIM page sect 7, sheet C2:00).

I don't have my other car here to look at, and none of the Repopers show it. Can someone please post a pic or drawing of this part?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
    Mike -

Item 15(f) is gray moly grease (same stuff you use on the throwout bearing), not a washer (see UPC 14, sheet B5.00, item 15f). The 103330 washer is item 15, used with the nut and bolt that attaches the pushrod bracket to the clutch pedal arm.

Any time you see that funny "flag" symbol with an item number followed by a letter, it refers to a lubricant, sealer, or adhesive application, and the number helps you locate it in the UPC 14 charts. It's pure coincidence that the grease and the flat washer share the same item number.

Thanks John, I'm just going through my judging sheets from Wildwood and found a markdown for a "missing washer" from the clutch actuating assembly. Its supposedly a safety issue, so, I not too worried about the one-point deduction, I'm just trying to find out what's missing. Every thing else seems to be there, but I'll keep looking....I'm sure they'll help me find it at Novi

Maybe it was the fact that the ears on the "special" washer weren't bent over.

        Michael,

If it's the thick washer, it's there to keep the clip from rubbing and falling off. I think it's the same as exhaust manifold washers we just talked about a few weeks ago.

Ok, now that that's settled..... what color are the dash panel end tabs and rivets in your 63's? How's that for staying on topic?

I'm shocked, just shocked that you'd stray that far off topic....I don't know what color that stuff is, Michael, I'll look tonight.

Thanks Michael. Need to know if they're gloss body color or ????

I'll try to stay on topic.

Michael, the rivets and tabs are both unbuffed silver-blue body color lacquer, duller than the exterior, but not close to flat. Got a little deduct for jambs "too shiny", but they'll be duller at Novi next week. I think that the black car has black rivets and tabs but its 250 miles away, so I'm relying on my crappy memory here.

While, we're on multiple topics here, should a Nov 28, 1962 built car have both the overflow tank "CAUTION" sticker and the similar radiator-top "CAUTION" sticker?

Thanks Michael. So, gloss body color on the dash tabs and rivets. That's exactly the way it's supposed to be for all 63-64, no matter what the interior/exterior colors are. Matching or non matching.
The reason why the body color on the dash tabs and rivets may appear to be less glossy than the rest of the door jamb, and other areas of the body is because the paint was applied after most of the car was assembled. What's that got to do with it? Well, the entire body, minus dash panel, was painted with reflow paint, then baked at reflow temperatures which made the paint glossy. However, since the dash tabs were not subject to the reflow operation, they may look somewhat different than the rest of the door jame paint, even though they were painted with the exact same reflow paint.
Some dash tabs may have a higher gloss than others, depending on how the layer of color was applied.
In no case should the tabs and rivets for any 63-64 be flat clolr.

On the coolant stickers, I have a picture (engine shot) of a brand new 63 FI car that was built somewhere around October or possibly early November of 1962. There is a sticker on BOTH the radiator and coolant supply tank. I don't remember what the text is on these stickers though and it's difficult to read.
I think I cropped/zoomed on on these labels and I have those pic's here somewhere. If I can dig them out, I'll post.
I think there was/is some confusion on these stickers. Might be a good idea to start a new discussion on this topic?
