Check the dates for his Apollo mission. The 63 they "gave" him was already a five year old used car.

Re: Astronaut Frank Bormans 1963 wheelcovers???
I think he has his dates and facts a little askew. Borman was in the second group of astronauts picked in 1962. So he most likely participated in the Corvette lease program, which is where the 63 most likely came from. I don't think anyone received a free corvette other than Alan Shepard's" 61. The lease program ran from 1963 till 1971, so there is a good chance Borman had other Corvettes as well.- Top

As an astronaut, he is bigger than life . As an airline executive, he was an astronut.
I prefer to remember him as astronaut.
God bless the astronauts and I pray STS-134 returns safely.Kramden- Top

I can't agree with you more. He put Eastern in the dummper pretty fast. In those days corporate America thought "figure head" presidents were the way to go. Time has proven that theory wrong and Eastern is living proof of that. Shaking hands with him in 1978 was truly amazing.
Other than an occassional night out with the NCRS crowd that was/will be my only contact with the moon.- Top
