Need help on 1970 tcs system

    Okay,
Previous owner removed the engine bay components. I have tracked down the relay and solenoid. But I need the component that goes into the passenger side of the block. Is it the same unit that is in the drivers side? If not, any idea where I can find one? Any part number? I cannot seem to locate it in my AIM

Steve the answer to your question is no. The temperature measuring unit that was installed in the passenger side has two terminals.
The only function of this unit is to send a signal to the TCS solenoid that the engine needs full time vacuum advance to help cool down the engine.
The main function of the TCS solenoid is to control vacuum going to the vacuum advance unit for the distributor.
With full time vacuum advance going to vacuum advance unit with a direct connection from a full time vacuum port from the carb you will get increased gas mileage in city stop and go traffic and a cooler engine temp in stop and go traffic.
My original owner 70 is now 41 and in SEP 2011 it will be 41 years since my TCS controlled the vacuum to the vacuum advance unit. When I went full time vacuum operation my in city driving in Dallas went from about 11 to 14 MPG. The engine temp in city driving was lower on the hottest days. This was using 1970 premium leaded fuel.

haven't had my hooked up since I can remember. although it's all still there. I would just add that temp switch actually overides the TCS to allow full time vacuum during startup until the engine comes up to temp
