Re: Safety motor mount year change?
Ralph,
You must have one of the last 1969 Corvettes built. Do you know the last day of production or the VIN of the last 1969 built?
It appears that the new style locking mounts made their debut on the 1970 production line.

. I have 2 sets like your 70-74 pic., having additional cut outs, however one set is different, It was removed from my 72' base engine, having a part # 3973402 on LH end bracket, my other set are the same as yours having uncircled AS stamp on open end bracket for bolt. I am guessing but I think at least a 72' and older shield may have some similar features, the AS stamp is circled, end brackets are cut on 45 not 90, has a part # on end bracket with a boxed 4 stamped adjacent to that part # like my 72'. I now think your 70-74 pic. actually is for a 73 up because they lack stampings, have 90 corner on end bracket not 45, less cutout at the bracket end, and generally appear cheaper than a 72'. The bracket mounting holes are the same on both my brackets and probably yours as well so that is not an issue. David, if Joe can try to verify the part # above, we have 2 different shields for 70-74, and maybe more, not including 70' and 71' that is, if they are different in some way from my 72', I may have to send you a pic., haven't tried to post a pic.lately but have been unsucessful in the past
? I plan to have a 70' L-46 and 72' base on engine stands with the shielding in place to photo but having the correct 70' shielding may be a problem ? Steve
