61 corvette headlight switch wiring question.

Hello, need some help on wiring my headlight switch. I dis-assembled my car to install new dash and windshield, but wires came apart from my headlight switch. Tried following wiring diagram in the Corvette Servicing Guide, but does not match my switch. I have the following color wires: Gray, White, Purple(Violet), Orange, Red, Black, Light blue. I have 7 wires and 8 connections on the switch, not sure where all the wires go, please assist if you know how to wire. I have included a picture of the switch for reference....thanks.

David , your wiring harness should have a plug to plug into your headlight switch . Sounds like someone ( Bubba ) may have cut the plug off and made their own connections . I would recommend looking real closely at the rest of your wiring harness while your at it .

Hello, it does have the plastic plug, but the wires came out of it. I purchased the car from the original owner and he said nothing was ever done to the wiring.

Your headlight switch looks identical to a bad switch that I replaced a few years ago that for some reason I kept , so I think your switch is correct . My wiring diagram I have for 61-62 shows red going on the contact that is by it self on the end ( right side of your picture )
then violet on next top pin and blk on the bottom , lite blue on the next top pin , orange on the bottom , white on the last top pin that is cross ways , and gray on the bottom cross ways pin . Again I started from the right side of your picture which is flipped over from the way it is shown on the wiring diagram .
Hope this helps . The switch has an extra pin that is not used ( center pin a little above the others )
