    Re: Car fire.

A friend of mine had a fire in his C1 Corvette last year due to gas overflowing from one of his WCFB carbs. It was put out using a dry chemical extinguisher. It sure looked like a mess, but he cleaned off the residue, then washed everything with water and the mess was gone.
I was very surprized it cleaned up so easily.

Jim, I have seen two motors both extinguished with foam from a fire department. The last one, 68 Satellite, was at a restoration shop in New Jersey. The owner of the shop told me most of the internal parts of the motor were trashed due to the foam used to extinguish the fire!

Understand foam by itself is supposed to be harmless, add water and the internal heat of a motor plus the heat of the flames and now introduce foam and water on metal components doesn't make for a good mix.

Again as I originally stated this is my opinion.

HALON type is NO LONGER allowed. it was replaced by HALOGEN type
some years ago due to ozone regulations. HALOGEN works very similar.
