F/W/I/W, I used an NOS GM windshield gasket on my 59, (still very soft and had the GM protectant on it) that I purchased new back in the day and was saving for this moment, car sits in a garage with a cover on it 90 % of the time, and it has cracks in it now along the bottom edge after only a few years. Do yourself a favor and use the Corvette Rubber Co. gasket so you don't end up having to do the job over again in a few years. Pilot Dan

Dan, a small point on old weather strips and seal. The silver-like dusting that you see on the old rubber seals is not a protectant, but actually a product applied to the mold so that the rubber would release from the mold more easily. In basic terms, it was a mold-release compound. You don't find it on today's weather seals because they are extruded and not molded.
