Have a project that I most likely will not get to for a number of years. Currently it is stored indoors, dry and sometimes high on a lift, four poster vs on a concrete floor. Frame has scaling and surface rust currently. Should I be concerned with the scaling and surface rust becoming more of a problem over time? If so, what would you suggest I apply (oil, rust converter, other?) to treat what I have, so that it does not get worse? Or due to how I have it stored, am I worrying about nothing? Any suggestions on product, if necessary would be much appreciated.

If it is indoors and truly dry, I wouldn't worry about too much further deterioration in the next few years.Tom Hendricks

I would buy a couple of spray cans of " Fluid Film " and give the frame a spray. Great stuff for rust prevention.

Re: Frame surface rust, C2
If the scaling and surface rust is a big percentage of the metal thickness you have strength issues. Surface rust is generally not an issue but scaling is a big concern. As the thickness of the metal is greatly reduced in generation of scale.- Top
