    Alternator Help

I just purchased a '65 Coupe. It is mostly original. I am not sure however of the alternator. It has these numbers on it

    1100668 37A
    4C2 12VNEG

Can you fine folks tell me if that is the correct alternator for this non air car.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Believe 1100668 is base alternator for 1964 327

    Believe 4C2 date code is March (C) 2nd (2) 1964 (4)

Believe you will need 1100693 for base 327 application for 1965

Check the judging guides or the Corvette Black Book to be sure

693 37 amp used on a lot of 327 Chevy applications and should not be hard to find.

Others may chime in with better info than I offer. Check my number to be sure.

    Good Luck
    Carl

from what I read in the Corvette Specs Guide, Carl is right on the money. You would want a 693 Alt that is dated no more than 6 months prior to your car's build date. Now I believe that if your car was by chance a first month or two of 65 production (Aug or Sept 64) car, you might be able to get away with a 64 model alternator when it comes to judging. Check me on that one.

Check E-Bay. There are several rebuilt ones on there now for $69 that cover most dates .

          Mike,

check with Ken Bruno - he should be able to do a swap with you on a correct dated / restored 1965 alternator - check his website at:
