Can you get a picture of the top of the base, inside where the arms fasten to the base? That's where the greatest difference is. Looking at the rivets, the unpainted bearing, the depth of the stampings on the bottom of the base, and the paint application on the shaft, my first indication would be reproduction.

When did these start being reproduced?

I accidentally bought a C-1 jack from a seller on eBay over ten years ago trying to find a jack for my first 1970 Corvette. I am assuming that the seller didn't know jack **** at the time about Corvette jacks and apparently I wasn't paying attention. When it arrived via UPS it was painted blue here and there and I basically shelved it in my storage for several years not knowing what it was but I knew it wasn't a C-3 jack. When I finally discovered what it was I cleaned it up and painted it black. I may take it to Frisco for the Texas Chapter Regional meet.

John Smith of Bluejacket, OK, was reproing them already in the mid to late 80's.

I don't know exactly what years, but the EARLY 50s pickups (maybe late 40s also) used the same jack. Back in the 70s when I was looking for an original jack for my 56, an older gentleman that worked at a Chevy dealer service dept gave me the one I have now. He told me it came with the 53 pickup he bought new.

It seems that I read years ago that NAPA also sold these jacks and those were painted blue. Referring back to Ken Grosslight's concern, what characteristics of the jack determines what is correct for the 1953-1961 Corvette? Or are all of the aforementioned jacks, except reproductions, considered correct?

                  Scott,

Tom Parsons photos tells it all. Ken needs to include all the same photos that Tom did before an accurate assessment can be made.

                    Gary,
Are you Ok with the raised bosses that are vertical to the stamping on the base in Tom's photos. I'm used to seeing a recess on those two bosses.

Dave, attached photo is what I would expect to find in the saddle. Ignore the primer paint. Gary....

                        Gary,
I can't tell for sure but it looks like the "saddles" that run on the sides of the stamping on your photo are recessed slightly which is what I would expect to see. I didn't see that in the earlier photos but the photography may have tricked me.
