Just for added info, the ashtray in my 56 (I don't know if it's original or GM replacement) has a clear AAC stamped on the side (I can attach picture if needed), BUT a portion of the lower "hook" of the C is missing.

Here's a pic of the original ashtray from my '60. Pretty strong AA and a very weak C. My two cents is that the characters in the gang stamp could get pretty loose. When tight, you get AAC. When a little loose, you get AA or AA like mine with an almost indiscernible C. And when very loose, just the A.

on a 55 i have AAC. two As are sharp, C looks like a upside down j. On original ashtrays that i just kept from another 55 as examples i cannot find any markings.

Logos changed from A.A.C. to AAC somewhere after 1957 and by 1959

- 1958 ashtray logo needed to confirm

Thanks Larry for the crisp photos. It is nice to see your ashtray since it looks identical to mine and my car is #13708. It looks like the unit did not change in the 630 unit spread between cars. John Marsico
