Looking for the "correct" rivets. Have been on trimtags.com and they indicate what they offer isn't correct for Corvettes. Will appreciate a description of what I should be looking for and where to get them. Thanks...Clark Erlandson 18941

Re: Trim Tag Rivets - 1970 Corvette
Clark, I think if you go to the C3 Registry they have some photos of the some original Vin tags with what the rivits look like. Don't have to be a member to look, but why not register your car there. Hope this helps EdNew England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: Trim Tag Rivets - 1970 Corvette
The reason that the rivets for the other cars are not applicable to Corvettes is that the other cars have steel bodies to attach the trim plates to. Corvettes have, of course, fiberglass bodies.
The rivet used for 68-82 Corvette trim tags is, basically, a standard aluminum pop rivet. It has a head diameter of 1/4". I don't know the depth of the hole into which it fastens, but that should be pretty easy to determine if you have the plate off. With the head diameter and depth of hole, you should be able to find pop rivets of the correct size and grip range. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Trim Tag Rivets - 1970 Corvette
Thanks Ed. The C3 Registry has a great photo of an attached trim tag. I'm doing a frame off on this #'s matching roadster I've owned since 1972. Rolling chassis is complete and painted body ready to drop this week. Trying to do this by the "book". Appreciate your interest. Clark- Top
