OK a silly question my 60 has a complete set of 62 dash knobs I am replacing with CC 1960 reproduction knobs and lighter. The wiper and lighter are obvious. The headlamps are a different story. The knob comes with a long triangular post permanantly attached which matches the one in my car. The post has a point on it and a groove at the end. The question is how does it come out it is not threaded and I dont want to just pull it with brute force. Even while rewiring the car and painting the empty instrument cluster I had to work around the push pull knob on the headlights which I didnt want to destroy and couldn't get out.

Re: reproduction knobs
Jef, pull the light knob out to headlight on position, then under the switch there is a little button(rivet over a spring). Push up on that to release the shaft, with a little tug on the knob it'll come right out.
To install the new one, just insert and push to off, then a tad more to seat the catch at the end of the shaft. You may have to push the rivet button a little.

Best quote I've seen in a long time and so true for those simple procedures that are baffling but really are so easy if you know the "trick".- Top
