    C2 - ordered License plate bar doesn't fit

    Hello,

    since my license plate bar is a bit rusty on some spots I ordered a replacement (keep the old until more will be rechromed). But the new one doesn't fit. Attached are 2 pics (below and left is the ordered one).
    I'd like some comments if this is a bad reproduction part or if my front end could be so missaligned that no other plate would fit.

      Sure looks the same size to me,
      did you try loosening all your front bumper parts first, install the cross bar, then tighten all back up?
      Should fit then.

      I see that variance in the angle of the dangle. I don't think it should matter (but of course could well be wrong. Won't be the first time a repro part is fubar'd)
      I recently replaced all the mounting bolts on my entire front bumper assembly and found when it was all reattached, but still loose, there was lots of play in the assembly. You can push down on one side, and up on the other. Pull here, push there, I'll bet it fits.

          The size is not the problem. It's the angle - see the additional pic. I tried it by first loosely inserting the screws - no way.

              I'd agree with Don. Loosen everything off, install the new bar and then begin to snug everything up again. Once everything is fitted, tighten it all up again.

                  Oliver - As someone said "it's not the first time a reproduction part didn't fit" and I'll add "it won't be the last." So, if you are expecting to make it fit, don't waste your time; send it back. Pete

                      Does anybody know a source for a good reproduction one? Since I live in Germany sending it back is not useful (Customs - tax - shipping costs).

                              Reproduction or Original, odds are it will not fit every front end on every Corvette!!!
                              Get a die grinder and go to work!!!! Nobody will know the difference when the bolt, lock washer and flat washer are installed.
