When purchasing a 67 Corvette with J56 brakes it was mandatory that J50 power brakes also be purchased (NOLAN ADAMS).
Did both J50 AND J56 line items show up on the window sticker?
J50 has ECL's that correspond to engine configurations while J56 has only 2 ECL's (defined as AA for L36,68 71,89 and [AB for L88]) which appear to be "one size fits all" engines.
The various ECL's probably identified the unique fittings etc req'd for the various engine configurations

). Appears that the J50 ECL's when combined with J56 used the same 13 codes as without J56, depending on other options, as you've said.
