    Source for AFB accelerator pump?

Is there anywhere I can buy those independent of an entire rebuild kit? Can't find them around here.
    Thanks!

      Clem;

This is the same source that the aftermarket floats came from that I referred to in my recent thread where I was debating on whether to use them in place of the originals in the 3461S that I recently built for my 63 L-76.

Some one said that they may not have the "correct pivot point" as the stock Carter floats. I had found them to be about 1/2 ounce lighter, but they appeared dimensionally (side by side) to be the same.

About the accelerator pumps that Mike is inquiring about; I see these do have the override springs on them. That is the main concern I have had too, as most kits provide a pump that you must transfer the spring from your old pump. That is fine if it is removable. These pumps look like the spring is fixed, and I question the pump seal material too. Is it leather or something else less suitable for Ethanal laced fuel?

Have you had any experience with these parts that you can speak to - for both Mike and myself?

you could contact them but those blue ends on the pumps are most likely viton which should work in ethanol. i have only bought gaskets from them.

Re: Source for AFB accelerator pump?

Just received my first parts order from Carbs Unlimited, Inc. today. I ordered early morning on the 1 st, and here it is only the third and it came by USPS. My pleasant surprise was in finding the AFB rebuild kit I ordered from them was a Tomco Kit, complete with their inlet valves instead of needle/sets. This is great as I love them, and the only other source that I found had their kits was Eckler's @ $41.95. Carbs Unlimited's price was $29.95.

Definetely a visit to their website was well worth it: www.carburetion.com for an AFB fan, as well as just about any other carb man.

            Mike,

I can get them for you. I happen to have one on the way for my 62. The stand alone replacements are leather rather than rubber. Let me know if you want one.

            Thanks,

            Tim

Wow. I've only bought gaskets etc. and their prices are very decent but that's crazy.

Re: Source for AFB accelerator pump?

If nothing else, there is some rather useless information that I copied down including the transition spring and accelerator pump dimensions and part numbers as references. I knew there were differences in pump lengths, some of which was accomplished with an adjustment of the individual pumps themselves. But, for what purpose? Different models? For instance, I'm in a situation where I'm looking for a little more (longer) pump discharge and volume. I know what I can do with the squirter size, but when you enlarge to a certain point you lose duration, and that's where I get a "bog" or let down. Carbs Unlimited has the adjustable pump arm (3 hole) for $12.95 complete with the rod and pivot screw, and you can see the carb is designed to allow a longer stroke ("S" will go down into the top plate some). That may be a next logical step.

Re: Source for AFB accelerator pump?

The recent Tomco AFB rebuild kit I received from Carbs Unlimited has an accelerator pump with a red/brown cup on what appears to be a Nylon shaft and fixed override spring. Does anyone know what the material of this cup might be? Is this the fluorelastomer or something else, and then is it Ethanol friendly?
