Re: 1973 Diverter valve and AC fuel pump
The 7029199 is the correct number for your L-48. It is a stamped number on the valve body. You may be reading a raised casting number.
The fuel pump 40769 with the cast ( AC) logo is the correct pump. The part number is hard to read installed. The cast AC is what you need for judging.Lyle

Re: 1973 Diverter valve and AC fuel pump
Joe-----I’m trying to purchase a diverter valve for a 1973 L-48 and get it ready for judging. The judging manual calls for 7029199. However, in looking at 2 original 1973’s in the field at Carlisle last week both diverter valves had part number 7034481. Which number is correct for the car?
Also, I’m trying to purchase the fuel pump AC 6470308 according the judging manual. In speaking with one of the old timers who restores the pump he said t he correct pump for the car is AC P/N 40769. If someone could please provide the correct number for either I would greatly appreciate it,
Joe
GM #7034481 is NOT a part number for a complete diverter valve assembly. It is a casting/part number for a COMPONENT OF a diverter valve assembly. ONE of the diverter valves which uses the 7034481 component is the 7029199. The latter valve will have the number "29199" stamped on the valve body.
GM #6470308 is the SERVICE part number for an AC 40769 fuel pump. However, the 6470308 part number appears nowhere on the pump, only on the box it is supplied in. The pump lives on long after the box "dies". The 6470308 pump was available for many years and all pumps of that part number might not be 100% correct for judging although all will be 100% functional for the application.
By the way, the 7029199 diverter valve is quite rare and difficult to find. Expect to pay BIG $$$$$ when you do find one, serviceable, or not.
Also, the GM #6470308, aka AC 40769, fuel pump is no longer available from GM or AC Delco. A replacement is available under GM #6471216, aka AC 41240, but it is a shorter pump and original fuel lines will not fit correctly when it is used. All of the available aftermarket replacements are of the 41240 style. So, I wonder how many folks would now like to have one of those "horrible, incorrect, no AC logo" later AC 40769 pumps now?In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Ralph------
GM #6470110 is the GM part number for the AC 40709 fuel pump. This pump is applicable to 1970-72 LT-1 as well as SERVICE for 1968-69 small block. However, it was not otherwise used for any 1970 or later Corvette. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
