    022 master cyl date

    I have a mc with the large 022 and a cast date of 2 25 4.

    front plug stamped 5454480 320G

Assume the cast date refers to 1964. How late were these masters cast with that part and casting number?

White plastic screw cap matches the original on my 61.

Is this a service replacement or was it factory for another gm car model?

I don't think they were used past 1962.

      Joe,
If it's dated it's a service replacement part. They were sold over the counter for many years. I bought one from a dealer in the eighties and when I opened it I found a Wagner cylinder inside. Apparently at some point GM bought from Wagner Lockheed. Rich

Rich this is a delco moraine master. looks th same as my original 61 except for the cast 1964 date. So agree this must be a service replacement if no other GM cars used this master after 1962.

My 57 was wearing this master when I purchased it.

could you post a better picture of the date. service replacements have the plastic cap, but almost always have a blank plug in front. i have a master cylinder with the R stamping with a 217-9. the D (danville) are three digits. the service replacement from danville has 64.

Hi Joe, your master is correct & there was no correct cast dates that made much sence, that was a foundry in house number from what the oldtimers told me, not sopose to b a date code you could use, some one may have more info on that date looking casting number..... The over the counter MC's came with the plastic fill caps & the newer "DELCO" or even later "Made in USA" wording from what i have seen, Not "DELCO MARINE"
