    AC compressor removal and rebuild

I also have a 67 Coupe DeVille convertible w 30K miles. Assuming all compressors are equal, I need to remove and get rebuilt. Is there anything I need to be careful about when removing lines?
Also a reliable place to send for repair.
    Thanks,
    Jim

Do you mean, "be careful with" other than first recovering the refrigerant by using the proper vacuum unit? -Clark

Jim, If there is still R-12 still in the system then you may want to find someone that can recover it( With a/c machine). R-12 Is not cheap. and if you dont care then be careful not to get R-12 it on your skin or eyes, where gloves and eye protection. Its also against the law these day to release into the atmosphere.

        Jim,
I am not sure what you mean by "Assuming all compressors are equal." They (A6s) are more or less equal in the remove/inatall, but there are differences. pulley size and I believe capacity, but some of the other folks on this thread can get into that -- if those are factors that you are asking about.

After having mine redone several times by "Experts" including sending it twice to one in Florida and never having it done to my satisfaction, I found Dom Tallrita on this web site. I finally found someone who did it right! It works perfect, doesn't sling any oil, is quiet and cools great. He took the time to completely take it apart and rebuild it right. I am very happy with his work and would highly recommend him to anyone.
