    Supplier Reviews

    Hello,

I was wondering what the etiquette on this forum is for rating suppliers.
I have seen other forums that have a special area just for that. It is very useful to be aware of experiences that others have had with suppliers, when trying to source parts.

What are the rules on this forum?

    Thanks.

    Dave,

There is no supplier rating section here that I'm aware of. But have seen plenty of people post their experiences with suppliers, the good, the bad and the ugly.

Lots of suppliers pay to advertise in the NCRS Driveline for our business.

The c2 registry has a "vendor rating" section.

At one point in time, there was a reproduction part review done in the Restorer or Driveline. It was discontinuted due to the controversy created by the subjective views of the reviewers. Would be the same today. What is a perfect repro part to one member might be totally unacceptable to another.

Agreed. But sometimes it is equally important how easy it is to deal with a vendor. For example, prompt communication, high quality work (for rebuilders), fair pricing, etc.

I think that members here do a pretty good job of telling about those things.

                    Re: Supplier Reviews

IMHO there are usually to sides to every story. I usually rely on recommendations from friends or fellow forum members. If you have a problem, always contact the vendor/supplier first and try to work it out in a diplomatic way. I am not a vendor, but in my business I never try to lay the blame on someone else. If I messed up, I apologize and then try to remedy the problem. If my customer is wrong, I try to explain everything in layman's terms and advise what I can and cannot do. Treat someone like you want to be treated!

                      Re: Supplier Reviews

I think a repro part review should be tried again. Yes some would be pickier than others, but I think most could decide what their own level of detail would meet their needs. If anything wouldn't it inspire the parts makers to pay more attention to detail, thus improving the parts? A lot of repro parts are pretty expensive, it'd be nice to have detailed info BEFORE opening a box and being disappointed. How many vendor/customer conflicts could be avoided by customers having more realistic expectations?
