1957 Windshield Wipers

The windshield wipers start well but stop and then move only about 3 inches about every 20 seconds until they complete their cycle.

Wipers have not been used for a long time.

Any suggestions?

Hi Roger, Remove ele. motor, Check motor pulled away from mount plate & see if drive output on motor moves back & forth with power applied to it for some time, then apply some resistance to it & see if it slips internally. Check to make sure both wiper clutches on transmissions are set properly, sounds like your motor is loose from its mount or gear box stripped
