Build Sheet Question

I am new to the Corvette hobby and to the NCRS. I did a search as regards build documentation and from that and from some reading see that GM started putting 'tank stickers' onto some of the '66 cars and then into all of the '67's (at least that is what I think I read.) As regards earlier produced cars: was their no build documentation put in these cars? I see some '66 Chevelles had build sheets. Trying to learn more about my '65 Coupe. Thanks. Mike

The tank sticker started in 67. I'd sure like to see one if it started earlier.

Build sheets - existed. Sometimes they ended up in the cars, stuffed in the frame hole back areas or up under the dash, but... to find that holy grail of the C2 car, you'd need an unrestored car and a lot of luck that someone did not find it before and pitch it out.

In the Noland Adams book, he said that at least some of the late 66's had them. I'm guessing your car (April 66?) didn't have it. I'm hoping my May 66 car does.

Hey Tom,

I can't remember exactly what Noland said about this. I just remember that it gave me at least a glimmer of hope that my car could have a tank sticker. Maybe I need to dust off the book and read it again!

With 4860 miles on my new '67 I spun it out hitting a guard rail removing the right front and back corners punching a hole in the gas tank! Reached in through the shredded fiberglass to see was this paper thing was, glanced at it, wadded it and tossed the original tank sticker for two points into a Quaker State trash can oil drum. I was 22.

Now that's funny Probably landed on top of the ignition shielding in the wast basket. Usually went in after the first tune up. Makes you wonder about all the "original" paperwork that started showing up over the last few years, especially with big blocks

Better that read...go drop that tire carrier and that cross bar that holds the tank in (don't forget to MT the tank, take off the hose & electrical.

If you told me May 1 they started, I would hope they started these at vin 20,000 the week before!

Right on the money, Paul. Drove my new '67 with 4 miles 1/2 block from dealership to Amoco station for White gas and a sheet metal screw to jam into the Holly's secondary linkage. Back at the dealership before closing for one heck of a squeal from the engine compartment. Lower shielding was gone after the first set of plugs. Top cover is the only shielding that survives.
