    C1 color change

I am considering changing current paint color to original cascade green. I like the idea of soda blasting. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Not to be ulgy, but why change the color if its the original color, thought that was the basic premise of this origanization.

I have to agree on that, I will be repainting our Honduras maroon/white the original color, but did let a black one go through my mind. There are good preparation/painting tips in the 1958-60 Corvette Restoration handbook.

am thinking Jerry stated cascade green is the original color and the car is NOT that color now and he wants to soda blast before returning to the original color - he is looking for suggestions on soda blasting is the gist of his question, I believe

i wasn't impressed with the 57 i had soda blasted. cloth fibers appeared(too aggressive blasting) but the big negative was the mess. there is still soda hitting the garage floor 3 years after the 57 duntov'd.mike

I did not make my posting very clear. My 57 is currently black with a silver cove. It think it was originaly was cascade green. In the engine compartment, I found cascade about 6" or soon from the top on the inner fender in the engine comparment and paint chips thru out the body. The cascade green was on top of red primer. From that, I beleive that it must be the original color. Mike, I am having this service performed at their shop under my supervistion. Thanks for the heads up on aggression. Is there a better way? My project is going to be a frame up. Wish I could handle a frame off!!! Thanks for your input. Any other tips??

              Jerry:
I apologize for jumping to such a quick conclusion. Bravo for returning the car to original manufactured state. I am glad mike chimed in the soda being around for ever, I was going to soda blast my '65, because I thought if i washed afterword it would remove al traces. I had a suburban plastic mead stripped a number or years ago and the plastic was everywhere including the paint.
              Good luck.

No chemicals at all just water. You have to be at the correct angle. The paint came off in big chips. I only had a small area that ruffed up the glass and that was on a repair area.

Jerry we have had several cars media blasted with no problems. The same with soda. It is all in the operator, not the materials. I watched as they soda blasted a car. He was stripping the paint one layer at a time. I asked if he could leave the primer, said no problem, proceeded to strip one quarter and leave the primer. Cleaned the car up with compressed air and then water.
