    Original Rosette Vin Rivets

I just came across a small supply of original rosette rivets (GM) they are black.I was told that the 1967 rivets were silver and the 1968 and up were black can some one confirm this also if this is true can they be wire brushed to silver?
    Thanks

1968 to 1972 Corvettes and for some years beyond had the VIN tag and rivets painted as part of the black out process. I don't know their original finish, but they (VIN tag and rivets =) were all painted black and then the window was set in place.

The rosette rivets I saw at an assembly plant in the 1980s (NOT the Corvette plant) had some type of black coating on them. I suspect these newer rivets are what you have.
