          John Pirkle Sr.

I am truly saddened to inform everyone that our good friend John Pirkle Sr. passed away Friday, Sept 30 at 3:30 PM surrounded by his loving family. Please keep Faye and all of John's family in your prayers as they go through this very difficult time. May they be comforted knowing that he has gone home.

John served his country and was a retired Army Colonel, helicopter pilot and veteran of Vietnam, an active church missionary, he also served the NCRS in many capacities at the chapter, regional and national level. He was most recently an NCRS Board member and represented NCRS on the National Corvette Museum Board. He was the co-chair of both the NCRS National Convention in Bowling Green and more recently Charlotte. As some of you know, anyone who is willing to undertake this difficult task more than once is a true hero. Somehow he also found time to manage a successful parts restoration business.

John was the true meaning of a friend, a friend to his loving wife Faye, a friend to his beautiful family, a friend to his fellow NCRS members, a friend to his Country but most of all John was a friend of the Lord. We all know where John is right now and that gives me comfort. We still all feel the pain of the loss of our dear friend, but we know he has gone home, until we meet again my friend.

One of the best left us on Friday to go home to his Lord and Savior John Pirkle, one of the finest people I have ever met. He always made me feel welcome no matter where we ran into one another.

Since John did restoration work for many of us he'll be riding in our vettes for years to come.

My wife and I were involved in a very bad high speed car accident in July of this year, and Corvettes at Carlisle was the first outing we were able to get out to.

I didn't really know if I would be able to make the 1,000 mile drive, but after hearing this sad news, I am so glad I got one last visit with John. I will treasure that time I had to sit down and spend time with John. He is, and has been one of the very finest people I have ever met in the Corvette hobby.

My prayers are for our Lord to give some measure of comfort to John's loving wife, and entire family. I will miss John greatly...

                            Ridge
