Is there anyone reproducing quality 1973 - 1975 Hood Insulation?

Steven..Only a couple of years ago I was able to find a NOS GM Part at a Chevrolet Dealership Parts Department! My local Chevy Dealership Parts Department who are also our NCRS Chapter Sponsor did a system search on the computer and gave a list of four or five dealerships who show they had at least one in stock.

After calling I think four dealerships the last one had two so I gave him my credit card number over the phone and it was shipped to me. The price was very reasonable too.

What I ran into was that even though the computer and dealership indicated they had one in stock..that it had been long gone and just wasn't removed from stock and the computer.

It took me some detective work and many phone calls, but that is what I find enjoyable about Collector Cars..you have to really have to hunt nowdays to find that certain part.

I would guess since some dealerships still had the hood insulator pad that it must not have been too long ago that the item was dis-continued from Chevrolet?

GM #6263599 was available until just a few years ago. At the time you checked, there were still some in dealer inventory since the part had been so recently discontinued. At this point, the dealer inventory supply has "dried up".

I am looking too for the correct molded under hood insulation for my 74......
