Did you look for a VIN stamp on the trans case?

    Bill,
If I understand you right, are you saying that the bolt holes are the same in the 7-d case and the retainer diameters can be different.

I will look for the vin also.

      Dom,

Your statement above is correct but keep in mind you need the matching bellhousing for these retainer diameters. Post a picture of the shifter and rods in your pic #1 and show the transmission levers. You may have what you need..

Also, what #'s are stamped in the main case just behind the side plate.

That is correct. All the 7-D cases I have seen have have the small bolt diameter, but I have seen a large diameter bearing retainer used with the 7-D case. I believe it was for use with a 409 engine as the 409 did not have provision for a block mount starter. (My assumption only)

          Tim,
I have the 3788421 that fits my munci

          I also have 3853403's

          And I have a 3899621

I will look for the vin when I get to the shop.

          Bill,
409, I had a few BW's behind the 409 and that introduced me to the inside of 4 speeds.

I was lucky not to loose one at the strip but I sure went thru them on the street.

With the heavy car and good tires on the back I had a few BW's give up.

            Bill,
The vin is WP2492 and the bearing retainer looks like it is hopelessly the large one as the bolts are almost to the edge of the retainer.

              Dom,

I think the small bearing retainer on the Muncie should fit the T-10 D case, this way you can use the 421 bell housing.
