    1963 Mask for instruments bezels

On a 63 instrument cluster once one has the bezels painted silver/grey has anyone come up with an easy way to mask the bezels for painting of the cluster face?

    Thanks for the input.

Keith, I have good luck with putting the 'non sticky' electrical tape on the outside of the bezels, then masking tape to hold it and cover the hole etc. Won't stick and mess up your silver. Use an eraser to remove the black from the lettering back to the chrome. Razor blade for silver on bezel edges etc.

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!

spray the bezels silver with no mask,

mask the bezels and spray the black

scrape the silver paint while it is fresh with a a piece of hardwood or razor to reveal the chrome edge of the bezel

I understood that the chrome accent on the bezel should be 1/8 inch showing. How do you do this with a razor blade? I am actually getting ready to paint a /64 cluster that I just had re chromed.

Dale, just the flat 1/8 portion on the very front of the 'cones' can be scraped GENTLY off, sides stay silver on all bezels.
