    Correctly dated starter ?

    Hello all

I've been trying to locate a correctly dated starter for my 1972 built on August 17th. I've finally located one dated February 16th (all codes correct) and wonder if it would be pass judging on the the built date. Manual says 6 months prior to the car's assembly, this one is 6 months + 1 day...

    Thanks for the help, Mk

Marc, thats a close call , it appears as you have one day to spare. the 6 mon. rule is just as it states , 6 months and not a day over.

      I'd keep looking................

Also determining the day the car is built can be a little dicey, as the car was not completed on the trim tag date in most cases.

6 months is not typical, keep the patience for a better one, what number?

If you poll real original cars the dates are within a few weeks to perhaps 6 weeks under normal circumstances. Not every car that has survived 40 or more years magically has the rare circumstance of the strike of 1970 or other events and option content that cause the dates to fluctuate - especially if its a car that they built a lot of.

So you would be looking for a 1971 summer dated unit as that part was used 70 -72.

Did you check with John Pirkle Jr?
I suspect he's been unfortunately preoccupied recently, but they had one for my late 71 with no problem, and in fact I got to choose my date code.

                    Marc,
I'll try again as this didn't post.

                    What about a 1108430 2F37 ? I think that's what I read on it?

That's the the auto trans. part number, and is dated 10 months after the car was built.

What was I thinking? I hope I did better on mine.
