March 27 1962 with 220 Deg Temp Gauge??

I believe that my gauge is original, It looks to be in the same shape as the other instruments. The judging manual says that the 220 was phased out in early 62. Is my car too late for that? .I ask because it isn't working properly and if it is the wrong type then I won't bother trying to restore it but will find a 240.

Your car would be considered a late car. The Judging manual says they were changed randomly during late 61 and early 62 so that's how it will be judged. That's not to say your car didn't have that 220 gauge originally. Maybe it was changed at the dealership upon delivery or shortly thereafter, but if you are going to have the car judged, it will be judged according to the "Judging Manual". I worked in a Chevy dealership in the 60's and stranger things then that happened.
