    wiper motor and heater fan

i need some help figuring this out on my '64. my wiper motor and heater fan both stopped working at the same time. fuses are good. wires look good and all connections are there. i do hear the wiper motor trying to start. it clicks like a starter solenoid. the wiper arms and assembly are not stuck or frozen in place. is this a coincedence that both stopped working?
thanks in advance for any help or advice.
    take care,
    matt

Matt, take a test light out to the blower motor connection and see if it lights when you turn fan on. it should get brighter with the increase of each speed, ( If you own a volt meter that would be better). As for the wiper motor it sounds like you maybe powered up , But take the test light a probe the connector wires one at a time and see if there is power. when turning switch. I dont have a 64 manuel in front of me so I dont know the wire color for the power side. make sure to look at the ground wires, the blower motor has a black wire with a spad attached to the motor itself.

If they stopped working at the same time, sounds like a ground wire problem if the wiring is the same as my 66. The ground for the blower and wiper are connected. The test I have done is turn the blower switch on then jumper from the ground (black) terminal on the blower motor under the hood directly to the battery negative terminal or another good ground. If it runs then you have a ground problem.

If it is the ground wire, on my 66, that Small harness runs from a ground connection on the starter to the blower motor, then on to the wiper motor

        Matt -

The top end of that ground pigtail (which is taped inside the starter leg of the engine harness) is as Don noted above; the bottom end has a large ring terminal, which goes under the head of the outboard starter-to-block attaching bolt. That's the sole ground for both the heater blower motor and the wiper motor.
