1966 Rear End Verification

Could anybody help me verify that rear end number 3876476, date code AZ 11 16 65 would be an original found on a 1966 427-390 corvette.

I also have the following for the transmission
Housing - 3925660
Tailshaft - 3857758
Side Cover - 3831707
Bell Housing - 3872444

Paul -- the 3876476 is the correct carrier casting # for your 3.55 posi big block rear.
Your tranny is a bit of mix -- the trans maincase should be 3885010; the tailshaft should be 3857584 (passenger side speedo connection); shifter sidecover should be 3884685 (the '707' is '65 and earlier); I think the '444' bellhousing is OK, but I'll let other '66 owners confirm.

Thanks, would the mixed bag of tranny parts be a major issue?

The rear end being original gives me a better feeling.

I'm looking at this car to purchase and honestly I'm not sure how much this would impact the car as an investment. The engine, intake manifold, exhaust parts check out.

The car also appears not to have the original carburetor (3868864).

Thanks for all your advice - I'm new to the corvette world and trying to soak up all the knowledge I can get.
