Ref. the water pump, I'm not sure that the numbers are accessible at all.

The plug mentioned is installed on top of the pump and otherwise served as the location for a bypass port- obviously used on your year. I believe OEM pumps for Corvettes used a female plug as seen in this link shamelessy borrowed from Pat Hulst's album.

Aftermarket/rebuilder pumps frequently use a male plug with a protruding square plug.

I take it your question pertains to the part number listed in the manual versus that in the AIM and on your vehicle. Two points to be made regarding unleaded fuel caps. Note that the manual in its 2nd edition was last updated in 2000 and there is much that needs to be updated and so your observations are on target.

We had a discussion on the topic a couple of years ago and I've included the link below. But the conclusion was that there were a number of caps used during the unleaded fuel cap formative years. The GM# 419862 was an early cap design but its usage unknown while the GM #559346 was a later design that carried over into the late C3 years including the 77 year.

The 77 cap shown are among those known to have been shipped from the St Louis assembly plants and the ear is a feature of the "first" design for unleaded fuel caps. The date code 225 6 would have seen service on a 77...which the caption on your photo indicates. Is this cap original to a 1977 Corvette?

Hi Loren, How's every thing. I once gave Jan a wrench to use & she said it was too small to drive nails.
