    Before I ruin anything??

I have ordered a restored set of correct seat belts for my late 66. Also, there was no buckle retainer on the console so I ordered that also. I just noticed that there are no holes in the back edge of the console for mounting the buckle retainer, but the AIM (UPC 1 ASM - F17) shows the bracket being screwed to the back edge of the console (see attached picture).

Do I simply drill holes in the console to mount the bracket? If so, does the bottom edge of the retainer line up with the bottom edge of the console so that the bracket is a little above the console and arm rest?

Just checking before I ruin a $500 console

    Thanks,

    Don

Yep, use the bracket as a pattern and drill two holes. Mike

      Donald,

I am no expert , but I think what you have there is a 64 console . they were not drilled for the bracket until 65. (I think )
At any rate here are some pictures of the holes in the console for your viewing pleasure . They look to me to be pretty much dead center, height wise .

You might want to ask someone what the best way to drill through chrome plate is , so as not to peel it .

      Hope this helps !

        Donald,

As to the back side ,the screws go into two welded on nuts. I would say you should also use some for additional strength. I cant see why you would need to weld or glue them in, although it would help to remove the screws again while the console was in place , if you ever needed to .
