    1970 windshield wiper door

Happy Thanksgiving all; my wiper door opens fine but closes too quickly not allowing the driver's side wiper to get all the way down. Any thoughts as to what the problem might be?

Maybe your vacuum switch under the passenger side wiper arm is out of adjustment. Plus both arms maybe slightly out adjustment the left lagging much later then the passenger side.

My 1969 did this from the day it was brand new.

The AIM shows how the arms should look in the parked position. I had to play around with the arms a little and adjust the vacuum switch on the passenger side.

What I did was pull the override switch to keep the door open and then adjust the arms to close as shown in the AIM. Then adjust the the vacuum switch to control the timing a bit.

There is also an adjustment to determine when the wipers start moving relative to the door. A switch is located on the firewall on the passenger side. Originals have a small black button that when the door opens is depressed to allow power to the wiper motor. It is quite simple to adjust the actuator that depresses the button. You may want to start there. The door may not move enough before the button is depressed.

Hope this is not too confusing.
