Finding the '67 I bought new

I have used the new shipping data to find the original delivery dealers for my '67 L79 coupe and my '68 base motor convertible. I am thankful for the information and appreciate it very much. Since we now have access to the delivery information, I wonder if we can use it backwards?

About the 10th of June in 1967, I took delivery of a new Sunfire Yellow L79 Coupe at Village Chevrolet in Wayzata, Minnesota. Because of several divorces and other life obstacles, I have no information about this car. I do have a couple of polaroid picture though. I am wondering if it would be possible to go backwards through the existing records to find the deliveries made to this dealer in the first two weeks of June 1967 and get the VIN of my original car so I can see if I can find it. There can't be that many new Corvettes delivered in that two week period to one dealer.

Given the importance of the history of these cars, I believe this would be a valid use of this information.

Joe, if I read his post right, I think he may be looking to search the NCRS data for his selling dealer which is known. Trying to verify cars delivered in a certain time frame. An interesting strategy that I hadn't thought of. I bet he doesn't have the VIN. Dennis, if you have the VIN, send it over to me, I'll sure take a stab at trying to locate what state it may be in.

        Tom,,

As I stated, I do not have any information on the car other than a couple of old pictures of it. I do know for sure that it was delivered to Village Chevrolet in Wayzata, Minnesota sometime during the first two weeks of June 1967. I am sure of this because it arrived shortly before my 25th birthday (which was June 19th), and I had to pay more for the first two weeks of insurance than for the whole next years. Thanks for any help you may be able to give me. If I have any luck, it may be that only one coupe was delivered to that dealer during that time period which would have been mine.

You would have to ask Roy if any type of reverse search is available from the data base. Sounds possible that the VIN could be retrieved from the system somehow ! Best of luck !

              Tom,

Thanks for your efforts. Bloomer III was younger than I was; his father was CEO back then. As I am still in Minnesota I have contacted the dealership and they had no information.

                Dennis,
The system was designed to find a specific vin. I have investigated the preparation of a new database to facilitate searches for a specific dealer. I am told that we would need to have approximately 5000 pages of information entered into the Excel search system. At this time this is cost prohibited. Perhaps the bank or insurance company might have a record of the vin?

I exhausted these sources in the late 80's when I got my current '67 L79; I doubt their records are any better now then they were then. I have been in contact with Roy Sinor, and given the amount of work involved, he still seems to be somewhat interested in helping me out.

Dennis, based on Mark's response, it's not practical from our end.

                      Denny,

Maybe your insurance company has the records and VIN for back then.
                      Just a thought.
