Re: C4 convertible rust
if there is major weather strip decay and the car is driven in the elements I would think the windshield header could rust. but having said that My 94 weather strip was ragged and it leaked, and it was driven all year round in south central Pa for all its life. and there is no rust to be found- Top

Re: C4 convertible rust
I've been around hundreds of them and have not found rust to ever be an issue.

Re: C4 convertible rust
Where in south central, Keith? I grew up around there.
I've never seen a rust problem on C4 windshields either. And never heard of a complaint about it on other forums.- Top

Re: C4 convertible rust
Always has been, Kieth. I was in the Mason-Dixon club, we had some of the biggest shows in the area back then. Had BBQ's once a year at Chip Miller's house, etc.
Moved to Reno in '84 (mostly because of the weather).
I do miss the back roads there, some of the best in the country.- Top

Re: C4 convertible rust
My experience is the same as Tom's. C4's generally do not have severe rust problems.
However, our good friend Brian McIntyre NCRS# 25387 has a 92 LT1 McClellen candidate car that sat outside uncovered in southern Florida for many years before Brian purchased the car. The car had more rust, corrosion and oxidation from the coastal salt air than any operable car I have ever seen in my life outside of a junk yard.
Brian has brought the car back to where it is just a National Meet away from his McClellan award (several Regionals & National @ 97+ points and a successful PV). I am telling you this because I believe that NCRS Master Judge McIntyre is as knowledgeable about C4 Corvette rust and corrosion as ANYONE I know.
Give Brian a call. I'm sure he will be able to tell your more about C4 rust than you may ever want to know. You can contact Brian via email at bamcintyre@charter.net Check it out.
