    67 a/c blows instruments fuse

Whenever I turn my heater fan on or if I pull the a/c on knob, the fuse for aall of my gauges blows. I've replaced the in line capacitor under the hood at the blower and it has had no effect. I am also hearing a pop in the radio audio when I turn the fan switch. I couldn't find any threads on this. I can't believe I'm the only person with this problem. Any suggestions? Could my fan control switch be bad?

    Al,

I would suspect the blower. Disconnect it and see if the fuse holds. Has your blower been making unusual noises before the fuse problem?

        Al -

Do you mean the fuse for all of the gauge illumination bulbs, or the fuse that powers the fuel and temp gauges?

The fuse for the gas and temp gauges. not the bulbs.

            Al -

There is no electrical relationship between the gage fuse circuit and either the blower or A/C circuits; you must have a pinched wire or a short somewhere.

                Al,

The two circuits come together at the ignition switch on the supply side, and at the fuse box on the load side. I think the fuse box and connector would be a good place to start checking for a cross connect.
