Different redlines so the face was changed giving them unique part numbers for the assembly.

Thank you Bill, do you know what the difference was specifically?

        Re: tachometers (C2)

        250/300 HP: 5000-5300, yellow; 5300-7000, red

        340/360 HP: 6300-6500, yellow; 6500-7000, red

Depending on fading, the above colors have to be taken with a grain of salt, and early tachs used different shades than later tachs, so "red" may appear as orange or magenta.

The 250/300 HP engines used the "base engine" cam that dated to '57, and the 340/360 HP engines used the Duntov mechanical lifter cam, which moved the torque and power peaks about a thousand revs up the scale and added about the same amount to the valve train limiting speed.

          Duke
Thanks for the information. This confirms I was duped when I purchased my 63, but am a big boy, currently restoring to original. Mike
