My 63 is VIN 30837s120864. I am confused on proper inside mirror and date coding. Would a mirror with a date code 7DM13 or 9DM13 be correct?

Re: Need help w proper 63 inside mirror
Hi Rick,
7DMI3 (July 1963) would be correct for your car. Your build is about July 30, 1963. 9DMI3 (September 1963) would be after your car's build date.
Interestingly, I just purchased VIN 121200 (August 3, 1963),which is unrestored and appears to have its original mirror which is the early design, undated, with rivets and Guide stamp.- Top

Re: Need help w proper 63 inside mirror
Thanks. All the best to you and Karen in the new year. On another matter, I am looking for a nice driver 58-60. Will make a few modifications to improve drivablity so not planning to make it a judged car. Please call me if you come across one that you think would be good for this purpose.- Top

Coincidence. Actually no snow here - just rain - thought you had a few inches already. Also, are you going to Florida meet in January? I finally retire at end of next month - Deb and I are considering.- Top

It's had an "early" mirror in it since that first day. Still does.
IMHO, there would have been no reason to change it out within the first 4 years of being on the road.

Re: Need help w proper 63 inside mirror
I have a question about your 21,200 car. On the rear control arms, is the front pivot bolt drilled with a slotted nut and cotter pin or is it the early non drilled bolt and standard nut.
I'm trying to figure out when the change to the drilled bolt occured in production.
We have quite a few unrestored cars on file in the 19,xxx range that have the undrilled bolt and standard nut. Thanks.- Top

Yes, going to Kissimmee on Wed and returning Mon. Tell Deb that Karen will buy dinner if you guys come down. The only problem is that since you'll be retired, we'll have to find someone serving dinner at 3PM.- Top
