67 Fan Clutch ID

I'm trying to determine if the fan clutch with my 67 327-300 Air Cond. car is correct. I remember seeing an article on fan clutches some time back in the Restorer, but can't remember what issue it was. ANYONE REMEMBER?? Also, should there be light resistance or medium when turning the shaft with it off the car? Thanks everyone!!

The 67 used either the Eaton or the Schweitzer units the Eaton with the round spring in the front should have a gold face the Schweitzer is 6'' in Dia and is called a star burst face both should have good reristance when turned by hand

The fan clutch on my 67 327/300 #7471 A/C has been questioned also, I've changed nothing. It's been noted as a BB clutch once and "wrong" once out of 5 judgings. I think it's correct.

Hi Dan, I don't know how. Kids coming over for Christmas later today, maybe one can see if I have what I need to get a picture. Ink stamps read B 7 H (B could be an 8 ?) and C 1 on the radiator side. Unable to see any markings on the engine side.

"B7H" would translate to February 7 1967. Small block cars also had a "CJ" ink stamp for identification. BB cars used "CK".

The year date code is Year 1960 is an "A". This is the beginning. You go up from there, so "H" is 1967.

From my 67 (early) , 300. It has the CJ and has a L3G datecode.
The "J" in CJ could easily be mistaken for a 1.

The "J" in CJ could easily be mistaken for a 1.

I believe that your "CJ" clutch is dated November 3, 1966 ("L3G").

Thanks, Dave. Yea, It's January built car.

Note on the fan, it has a round,blue inspection stamp covered up by the clutch.

Thanks everyone, Bill my fan clutch looks like yours except for the codes. I looked closer at the 1 and could see it is a J. I have a mid Feb car and most of the dates are Jan or Feb. Would it be best to clean up this one and use only for judging purposes or have it rebuilt and use it ? Not sure how long the rebuilt ones last. It still has good resistance when turned by hand. Not sure how when driving as the car has been sitting since 1981-82, other than when I cranked it to make sure it would run.
