Mentor Program

A few years ago I had suggested to my local chapter the idea of a mentor
program. Along with a few suggestions such as a flyer about NCRS and the
local chapter activities. A packet would be given to new/prospective
members. The key point was to have a selected person within the chapter
that would match up with this newbie. Possibly a follow-up meeting with
one or two members to assist this newbie in a certain activity.
E-mail follow ups, among other assisted ideas. This chapter mentor would
contact similar years chapter members car owners who would then contact
this newbie.
HAS NCRS ever tried a package program like this ?

I know there IS a one page NCRS flyer, that helps.

Due to a serious illness I haven't been able to continue this project all
that well. My chapter President has made a nice effort to send me new
members that join our club.

This is a Great Idea for a Chapter Mentor. I recently joined a chapter and they had my address and zip code the same. I think if they sent a thank you email to interduce the chapter and check member info, they would of got the info correct. Happy to be a member of this hobby forum site.

Hi John,
I agree that this sounds like a good idea.
I think by giving a new member a contact person of his own, he will feel comfortable with calling him when he has a 'newbie' type question, will help him feel a part of the group. Perhaps this contact person can have an interest in the same year cars he's interested in.
