GM #492975 was a special bolt of 1/2-13 thread size and 1" length. It was a flanged, hex head with fluted shoulder. At one time it was used for some bumper bolt applications across all GM car and truck lines but I can't find any Corvette applications for it. In fact, I can't find applications on any other Chevrolets but it was supposed to have had some. I would not rule out, though, that there might have been some Corvette applications(s), but I doubt it. It was discontinued without supercession in March, 1997

Among other possible uses (listed for "ALL"), four of them are used on the front bumper spring bracket for 1974-1975 Camaro, specifically. Grade 8. I found them listed like Joe described as 1/2-13 x 1", and in more recent catalogs described as 1/2-13 x 1-1/4", same GM 492975 part number in both instances.

Here is a photo of the bolt. Is it what you (Joe and Scott) thought it was. Total length is approx 2 inches. Has an anchor symbol and a B on the head.

Yes, that's the bolt. The THREAD LENGTH on it should be about 1".
