    Hi Alan,
You are correct about the paint finish at the very front part of the hood, but since my car isn't going to be judged, I decided to properly paint it all the way around the hood. I do, however, have the paint finish (semi-flat black) and paint margin (how red meets black) correct per my research.

Another day of beautiful weather here in South Florida has given me the opportunity to (hopefully) finish the project this weekend. I have attached two photos of my hood that I painted last weekend with blue masking tape in place just before applying the bonding sealant yesterday. After I finished tooling each bond location, I carefully removed the tape and feathered the sealant on each end. After waiting about an hour for the sealant to set, I turned the hood over as it will sit on the car so the sealant can dry with the weight of the outer hood skin pushing down on the underside frame. In the morning, I will install the new weatherstripping and hood pins, and will complete some touch-ups in the area in front of the radiator where it is difficult to reach when the hood is installed. If all goes according to plan, I should have the hood installed back on the car by the end of the day.

Re: C2 Underside of Hood Restoration

I finished my underside of hood restoration project today! As you will see in the attached photos, the DAP sealant turned out great, and I was able to install the weatherstripping and hood pins before putting the hood back on the car. I also did a 1500 wet sand and compound of the hood lip red paint that I sprayed last week. I didn't bring it up to the level of the paint on the top of the hood, but it is smooth and shines nicely. The 3M weatherstrip adhesive is not great to work with (perhaps all contact cements are similar?), but I applied it to the rubber and painted surfaces and it is holding strong. I still have to make a small adjustment to even the gaps between the hood and body, but that can wait until next weekend as it's time to go cruising again!
