    1965 Corvette Coupe Glass codes

I have an early production '65 that was built in September 1964. My side glass and vent glass are showing everything correct as described in the NCRS Judging Manual, with the exception of the two or three digit manufacturer's code that begins with an M. (Example M54). Is this possible that because of the early build date in the end of '64 for the 1965 production that it could be missing this? Would I score a complete deduction on points just because this is the only thing missing on the Vent and Side Glass?

On the Vent Glass it has a 2 digit code but states VC. Is this for a date or the manufacturer's code? I thought it has to start with a M?

On the Side Glass it has a 2 digit code TG (August '64).

The Coupe Back Glass is all correct and with the date code LG (March '64)

Judging manual states that full credit will be allowed for any date within 1 year prior to manufacture.

Again....everything is correct with the exception of the M.

The Windshield is all 100% correct ......

Re: 1965 Corvette Coupe Glass codes

Dean - with my limited judging experience (only 65 points at Chapter and one Observer stint at National) I offer the following:
1: missing manufacturer code should only result in max 25% originality points deduct due to Configuration issue
2: wrong date is 15% originality points deduct
3: could the vent glass be 'VG' instead of 'VC'? If so, that's Dec '64....not uncommon as vent is the easiest way to get into a car with keys locked inside
    Cheers,
    Gary (Perth, Australia)

Dean -- Here's my early '65 (#014xx), most of which was still in the plant in September '64, before the strike started. I too am missing M54 manufacturer's code on the three windows that I believe are original. I've owned this full-tint car for 31 years, and it has never been in a "restorers" hands.

What about the '64 guys ? do they have the M54 ? In some cases the M54 is positioned so low that it's buried in the margin for the window channel.

My driver side window is: IG (June '64); passenger side UG (July '64); rear [coupe] JG (May '64). These three have NO M54.

My two vent windows are not original (perhaps for the reason that Gary mentions). Driver vent is E-Z-Eye / Soft Ray / AS2 ____ VJ (Dec '65) / M54.
Pass vent (no E-Z-Eye), dated TA (Aug '66) with the M54.

On my late '65 convertible, only the passenger door glass is original. Pic shows the side glass with the M54, clearly; IJ = June '65. The vent window is XJ (Feb '65), the etching fades out towards the bottom channel, but the M54 appears not to be there, although it probably was, originally..

My Sep build 65 coupe also has no M54. UG, IC(?), IG, and LG dated windows.
