Upon cleaning the flexplate & torque converter on my 1 owner 67 today (both out of the car), I was looking for date codes and wasn't able to find any. Were they dated? Also, some interesting paint marks were found. 1) approx. 1/2 of the flexplate on the engine side had heavy chevy orange overspray on it-- must have been installed when the engine was factory painted?? 2) on the torque conv. side, there is a swipe of bluishgreen paint in the shape of a reverse C near 1 of the mounting holes for the conv.-- used for alignment/balance with the TC ?? 3) on the TC flexplate side, there is a blob of purple paint in the recessed area approx 1-1/2" dia. 4)there is also a light blue streak of paint on the flexplate side that extends from the recessed area outward and down approx 1/2 way the side of the TC near 1 of the flexplate mounts. again, was this used for alignment with the flexplate?? Interesting to see if others have seen these markings on their FP or TC. The transmission & engine had never been out of the car prior to my removal of them

Your Assembly Manual (section M35, sheet A3) describes the alignment of the white paint mark on the flexplate and the blue paint mark on the converter at installation. The flexplate was on the engine when the engine was painted.- Top
