    LS-5 w/ A/C engine mount V-shims??

Recently there was a post questioning the purpose of these shims. That was quickly established. I am going to need to use these V-shims to center the fan blade on my '72.

Anyone have experience with this? How many shims are typically used? The current fan seems quite low in the shroud and it appears that several shims will be needed. It would be nice to have an idea so I can order close to the correct number of them. Thanks!!

My January 31, 1972 production LS-5 with A/C came with one shim for each engine mount.

Thanks James, since the shims are not directly under the fan and engine/transmission assembly will pivot on the transmission mount, raising the engine at the engine mounts should raise the fan higher than the thickness of the shim. Anyone know how mush one shim on either side will raise the fan? Still trying to figure out approximately how many shims I'll need.

My '73 LS-4 w/C-60 used 1 on each side. The A.I.M seems to imply only one per side, as opposed to the 'as required' as seen for other shim usage.

it is only 1 shim per side.

my 72 had only one shim, and to be honest - I have never seen a AC BB car with more than that.
