GM Engine building techniques 70-72 cars

I have a question on how GM originally assembled the engines for the older cars. When they built the engines did they use any other kind of sealer on them besides the ones in the head bolts? Like on intake manifolds did they use just the two rubber end gaskets more or less dry? Are did the also run a bead of a sealer on them?

No sealers were used on the intake manifold gaskets or end seals.

Lyndon, I know later year GM cars used a dab of silicone sealer in corners of the end seals.which is a good idea to use.

My experience is to find a small dab of black sealer at the junction of the end seals and the side gaskets. Flint & Tonawanda large & small motors.
